Oak Creek Academy is a mastery-based school, which means your child will never find themselves in a circumstance where they move forward in the curriculum without a solid grasp on the preceding skills.
The program is aligned to national standards and is designed to fully teach course material through a variety of modalities embedded within each course. Students will learn concepts through reading, games, videos, flash cards, virtual experiments, and many other interactive means.
Your child is assigned one teacher in grades K-5, and multiple content area teachers in grades 6-12 to ensure help is there when you need it! Teachers monitor the student’s progress in courses, provide robust feedback on graded assignments, and meet one-on-one with the student to answer questions, explain concepts, and extend their learning. Our teachers are certified, highly qualified, and have decades of combined teaching experience.
Teachers are available via phone, email, instant message (Skype), and Zoom. Zoom is our preferred method when teaching students as it allows students to view the teacher’s screen in order to better understand the material being taught. Plus, it builds a personal connection when teachers and students are able to see each other via webcam!
Students are enrolled in 4-7 courses, depending on grade level and preference. All courses can be accessed online 24/7 from one simple dashboard and families can structure the school day in the way that works best for them.
Students also have many opportunities to engage with peers through live classes, virtual clubs, field trips, and other activities. We look forward to "seeing" you in school!
